ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Eight years ago, QuikTrip opened its first store without gas pumps in Midtown. But the location will shut down on May 3, according to a company spokesperson.

The store repeatedly failed to meet expectations related to performance and employee safety, Corporate Communications Manager Aisha Jefferson said in a statement. Its employees will be reassigned to nearby stores.

“QuikTrip will use this pilot concept as a learning experience to help build our brand as we expand in metropolitan areas nationwide,” she wrote.

Despite the closure, the company remains “more committed to Atlanta than ever,” Jefferson said. The city is QuikTrip’s second-busiest market in the country, clocking 167 stores.

In the past year, the company has invested $7 million in causes related to addressing homelessness, addiction and youth services in Atlanta, according to Jefferson. QuikTrip is looking to find a new location in the city for another full-service store, which is expected to open in the next two or three years.

In February, a RaceTrac store in downtown Atlanta also closed down after it acted as the site of several deadly shootings and other criminal activity.(https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2024/04/26/midtowns-gas-less-quiktrip-close-due-crime-few-customers-company-says/)
