Young American Hans Niemann Defeats World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen at the Sinquefield Cup

The AW had not planned on putting together a post today but things changed when Grandmaster Hans Niemann

Niemann: “I believe that these [first] three games have encapsulated my strength and potential as a player, but I’m still improving, I’m still learning…you don’t become World Champion in a day, it’s a gradual process. […] If I didn’t have this opportunity, who knows how long it would take me to show that I can beat top players. | Photo Courtesy of Saint Louis Chess Club, Lennart Ootes (https://www.chessdom.com/hans-niemann-beats-magnus-carlsen-to-be-in-the-sole-lead-of-the-sinquefield-cup-2022/)

Pentagon Drops UFO Bomb!

UFO?

MYSTERY WIRE — The Pentagon dropped a UFO surprise late Tuesday night. A new office will be created to track and assess unidentified aerial phenomena spotted over military ranges, according to a memo from Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks.

The office was given an unwieldy name, the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group, with an unpronounceable acronym AOIMSG. The memo from Hicks specified that the new office has the job to “detect, identify, and attribute” unidentified objects and to assess any possible threat to aviation safety and/or national security.

For decades, the Department of Defense has ridiculed and dismissed UFO incidents and reports. It has thwarted attempts by Congress and the public to access information and files related to military encounters with UFOs, including those seen over sensitive military facilities and assets, including nuclear weapons storage areas and missile bases.

The China Virus

I spent my morning reading a ONE MILLION word article in the New Your Times concerning the origin of the Covid pandemic, or as former POTUS Donald J. Trumpster called it, the “China” virus.

After spending over a quarter of and hour reading the massively worded Op-Ed by Zeynep Tufekci, this is what was gleaned: “With so much evidence withheld, it’s hard to say anything about Covid-19’s origins with certainty, and even a genuine investigation would face challenges. Some outbreaks have never been traced to their origin.”

BUMMER!

While reading I recalled hearing something the comedian, Jon Stewart, said recently concerning the origin of the pandemic, so I let my fingers do some punch’ & pokin’ research, finding a film of about 8 minutes, which, if I know my readers, they will be far more likely to watch than read the lengthy article.

Michigan Republican Mayor Says Trump ‘Even More Deranged Now Than I Thought Then’

Michigan Republican Mayor Who Voted For Trump Switches To Biden: ‘Even More Deranged Now Than I Thought Then’

By Ken Meyer Mar 10th, 2020, 9:09 am

A Michigan mayor and longtime Republican has decided to renounce President Donald Trump in favor of former Vice President Joe Biden.

The Chicago Tribune has released a profile on Michael Taylor,

mayor of Sterling Heights, MI, which is situated in the middle of Macomb County, where many midwestern voters supported Trump in 2016 after voting for Barack Obama twice. Taylor has established himself as a prominent local Tea Party figure, who has always voted Republican, but he confirmed he will support Biden in the Michigan primary and the 2020 election.

“I think Joe Biden is the candidate who can unify all of the Democrats, and he’s the candidate who can appeal to moderates and Republicans like me who don’t want to see four more years of President Trump,” Taylor said.

Peter Thiel Rips Google A New One

Former Chess player, and multi-billionaire Peter Thiel

has written an editorial in which he has shined a light upon the largest roach in the world, Google. The company has gotten out of bed with the United States and into bed with Communist China. Google is the quintessential American company; anything for a buck. How many companies took money from Putin and the Russians to subvert the will of We The People in order for Donald J. Trump, or as I think of him, Trumpster, the greatest con man of all time, to become POTUS? As Gordon Gekko said in the movie Wall Street:

Mr. Thiel writes:

“A.I.’s military power is the simple reason that the recent behavior of America’s leading software company, Google — starting an A.I. lab in China while ending an A.I. contract with the Pentagon — is shocking. As President Barack Obama’s defense secretary Ash Carter pointed out last month, “If you’re working in China, you don’t know whether you’re working on a project for the military or not.”
No intensive investigation is required to confirm this. All one need do is glance at the Communist Party of China’s own constitution: Xi Jinping added the principle of “civil-military fusion,” which mandates that all research done in China be shared with the People’s Liberation Army, in 2017.”

“That same year, Google decided to open an A.I. lab in Beijing. According to Fei-Fei Li, the executive who opened it, the lab is “focused on basic A.I. research” because Google is “an A.I.-first company” in a world where “A.I. and its benefits have no borders.” All this is part of a “huge transformation” in “humanity” itself. Back in the United States, a rebellion among rank and file employees led Google last June to announce the abandonment of its “Project Maven” A.I. contract with the Pentagon. Perhaps the most charitable word for these twin decisions would be to call them naïve.”

“How can Google use the rhetoric of “borderless” benefits to justify working with the country whose “Great Firewall” has imposed a border on the internet itself? This way of thinking works only inside Google’s cosseted Northern California campus, quite distinct from the world outside. The Silicon Valley attitude sometimes called “cosmopolitanism” is probably better understood as an extreme strain of parochialism, that of fortunate enclaves isolated from the problems of other places — and incurious about them.”

“A little curiosity about China would have gone a long way, since the Communist Party is not shy about declaring its commitment to domination in general and exploitation of technology in particular. Of course, any American who pays attention and questions the Communist line is accused by the party of having a “Cold War mentality” — but this very accusation relies on forgetfulness and incuriosity among its intended audience.”

The West has badly underestimated China

China has been quietly building up its military and it’s now in command of an astounding force. The West has been completely blindsided.

Trump, Feeling Heat & Pressure, Lashes Out

Trump lashes out over Russia probe in angry and error-laden tweetstorm

By Josh Dawsey and Philip Rucker February 18 at 9:55 PM

In a defiant and error-laden tweetstorm that was remarkable even by his own combative standards Trump

stewed aloud and lashed out with fresh anger about the intensifying Russia probe over the weekend.

Rick Wilson, a Republican strategist based in Florida and a Trump critic, said the president’s tweets read to him like “a cry for help.”

“He must be feeling a lot of different pressures building on him right now — personal and political and legal,” Wilson said. “He must feel like he has to sweep all the pieces off the chess board

and try to restart. But these problems can’t be papered over by tweets.”

No Stress Chess

The Legendary Georgia Ironman mentioned “No stress chess” recently. Curious, I asked him to elaborate. Tim said no stress chess is being taught at some schools. The young children do not actually play chess, but move the pieces around as if they were playing chess. It is popular because there are no losers, and therefore no winners. The thing is that the people who advocate “no stress chess” think it a good thing because since there are no losers everyone is a winner. They stand around smiling while their little Spud, and Spudette, “play chess,” saying things like, “Aren’t they cute?” When told that evening that little Spud played chess today the first question a father will ask is, “Did you win?”

Mr. Six-Time, GM Walter Browne has published an excellent book, “The Stress of Chess…and its Infinite Finesse.” In the 2014/3 issue of the best chess magazine in the universe, New in Chess, GM Helgi Olafsson writes about Walter, “Great games that show that he always lived up to his motto and the battle cry he proposed in the book: ‘By competing you are a winner-no matter the result.'” One does not compete when playing “no stress chess.” Without stress there is no chess.
